TEK NET

The Henderson Amateur Radio Club is pleased to present our Tek Net every Sunday evening, starting at 8pm local time (0300 UTC).

The audio portion of the Tek Net will be found on the Henderson Amateur Radio Club Repeater Network (RF).  The audio may also be accessed via Echolink (W7HEN-R node 740644) and Allstar (node 44045).

The audio will refer to this page, so that the listener can more fully understand the concepts as they are presented.

All are welcome!

“Why should I turn ON my radio other than for the weekly club net?”

Tonight’s Tek Net will be a round-table type discussion, in an attempt to harvest everyone’s opinions and answers to the following questions listed below.

Everyone’s input is welcome and is needed, so we can better serve amateurs in a more intelligent fashion.

The Tek Net is the Henderson Amateur Radio Clubs way of covering and making available the most current and relevent information on Ham Radio, Communications, DIY building projects, and providing guidance or troubleshooting tips for our participants.

Please try to keep your answers as short as possible so we have time for everyone.

If anyone doesn’t want to answer a question, no problem…when called upon simply say  you pass on this question.

#1  Why did you get a ham license and what year?

        * example: had a shortwave receiver in high school.

        *School had a radio club.

#2  What steps did you have to take to get your license?

       * were you part of a sponsored class?,

       * did you study on your own?

       * Did you have an Elmer or friend assisting you?

       * On-line study web site?

#3  Have you operated the entire time that you have been licensed?

       * what bands primarily – HF – VHF – UHF – Microwave?

#4  What do you find enjoyable about your “ON THE AIR” time?

#5   Do you think getting your ham license has made you more receptive to learning new technologies?

#6   Do you think having two or more nets a week, Mid-Daytime & Nighttime would serve more club members?

         * Good idea or bad idea?

*

#7   How many Nets do you regularly participate in?

         * That is as a regular consistent check-in

#8   What type of Net would you like to see formed?

#9   How about  an organized 10 mtr Net or Round table schedule (so Technicians and those hams with modified CB radios can participate).

#10 How about a HARC HF net?* 80Mtr, 40Mtr, 20Mtr , 10mtr, 6 Mtr or ??

My Elmer back in the 1970’s once said, “a ham’s imagination is what has brought the ham community as far as it is today” (that was in 1973!).

Look at what we can do now 50 years down the road.AMAZING!

We can thank the amateurs that brought their ideas out into the open ( like Joe Taylor and his visions of weak-signal operation.

This week I received several suggestions for Tek Net topics from Gene N7WDZ and I will have something of a more technical nature for next week.

That’s all for this week.

As always if you have any questions or comments about tonight’s Tek Net, send them to wb6amt@gmail.com or text me at 702-372-9891 anytime.
