“Tony Dinkel Memorial Field Day 2023” At the American Legion hall BM 40 Overview

Well, the Tony Dinkel Memorial Field Day 2023 has come and gone.

There was a lot of effort applied to this years FD event by many, however it’s too bad that the bands didn’t want to cooperate.

It appears that the band that had the most activity yesterday was 15 meters

There was a little activity on the others but nothing that folks were bragging about.

From what I was seeing on FT8 after 9pm there wasn’t a lot of stations returning contacts (most unusual for FT8).

PSKReporter showed that our station was getting out to the East Coast and Europe…just no one answering ( I guess they went to bed early).

Anyway it got pretty desolate on 20 and 40 meters and we wrapped things up a little after 1am.

Kathleen KJ7QMU did a great job at fabricating a “Memories” board of our dear friend (SK) Tony Dinkel WB6MIE.

Tony liked to jump into things with both feet, and he certainly did that when it came to club issues or projects.

There were excellent raffle prizes, that put a smile on a few faces. The two main radio prizes were donated by Darren WS7R, these handhelds cover 50mhz to 450 mhz ( even 220 mhz!)

Even though radio-wise, yesterday was a bit of a let down …from a people point of view, it seem to be a successful gathering as we normally do when HARC members gather.

For next year…

Late last night, the board members that were present were already deep into the planning for next year’s Field day.

New ideas and some different concepts are being discussed, always wanting to do better next time…
