TEK NET 20221023

The Henderson Amateur Radio Club is pleased to present our Tek Net every Sunday evening, starting at 8pm local time (0300 UTC).

The audio portion of the Tek Net will be found on the Henderson Amateur Radio Club Repeater Network (RF).  The audio may also be accessed via Echolink (W7HEN-R node 740644) and Allstar (node 44045).

The audio will refer to this page, so that the listener can more fully understand the concepts as they are presented.

All are welcome!

“Ask the Pros” night, it’s encouraged that participation in an attempt to “Stumps the Chumps” is always welcome.

Ask the Pros night is your opportunity to bring comments or questions about electronics, communication, antennas, operating your station or just about anything “Ham Radio”.

I was asked this week by a new licensee if I had any plans or instructions for some beginner antennas.

This antenna is easy to build and can be inserted into a 20″ piece of 1″ 200psi pvc pipe.

Painted to match the color of your house and it literally disappears.

This pvc pipe is a light biege color and is not with the white or grey pvc tubing in Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I found it in the kitchen faucet fittings area, and it was only in two sizes.

You can however use the regular white pvc end caps and elbows for mounting it.

This is a great antenna to mount to the edge of the roof  and away from the prying eyes of an HOA.

It gives excellent performance into the repeaters around town.

Gain was measured a few years back as better than 2db over a quarter wave ground plane antenna.

Until next week….
